IG Design Group is one of the world leaders in branded and bespoke paper goods, holding licences for major companies such as Marvel, TGI Fridays and LEGO. They currently have more than 10,000 customers throughout the world, with operations in the UK, Europe, Australia, Asia and the Americas. Their products are found in over 200,000 retail outlets internationally, with their products reaching millions of consumers of all ages.

Imium worked along IG Design to Design, Develop and Deliver a fully refurbished new office space that had been designed to help change the way the company works. The client wanted to move away from individual offices and create a more communal workspace that encouraged more collaboration while working as well as accommodating more staff as the company continued to grow over the coming years.

Cwm Cynon Business Park

Value: £170,000

Timescale: 12 Weeks

Imium were asked to completely refurbish the existing reception area and atrium of Ty Gwent after their long term tenant left the property. The client requested a vibrant and modern feel to the existing reception and communal space.

The new design took down the old glass frame to create a far more open and welcoming space, with stylish acoustic panels fitted to the walls, to improve the acoustic comfort in the atrium. and new lighting installed to create a warmer space.

Imium were approached to refurbish the exterior of Cwm Cynon Business Park just outside of Mountain Ash. Due to the need to attract new tenants as quickly a possible the work was carried out on a short time frame but was delivered on time and on budget. 

Since the completion of the refurbishment, several units have been leased on long term tenancy agreements.

The refurbishment works included the following:

  • Repair and replacement of roller shutters
  • Replacement of impact damaged cladding and redecoration of existing
  • Replacement of roof lights
  • Installation of new emergency lighting
  • Redecoration of roof coverings and flashing detail
  • Repair and replacement of guttering and downpipes
  • Replacement of existing floodlights to bulkhead above shutter doors
  • Install new estate signage and unit numbers 

 

Imium were asked to design, develop and deliver both CAT A and CAT B works of and existing office building in Llanishen Cardiff, to transform it into a day nursery that provides care for children up to 4 years old, as well as wrap-around care for children up to the age of 11. Daisy Day Nursery relocated from their existing premises to Lambourne Crescent, with a vision of creating a new facility that catered to their exact needs and requirements. It would be a comfortable, safe and inspiring environment for both staff and children and allow them to maintain and improve on the high standards of care that they already provided.

The IV Lounge

The IV Lounge is located at The University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff and is a space for all the medical students who are on placement from Cardiff University to catch up on work and unwind. Given the quiet location at the far end of the hospital and the new design, the space is also popular with the other members of staff that work within the hospital who want to get away from the large crowds in other areas of Wales’ biggest hospital.

The design of The IV Lounge was to make the cafe area feel less like a canteen and more of space that encourages users to use it to dine, work or socialise. The IV Lounge has a range of different seating areas including upholstered bench seating, booths, dining and bar height tables to suit the different uses.  The main objective is to make the cafe area more efficient and reduce queue times. Working alongside the students and staff at The University we developed the space to improve the flow by re-purposing the existing unused bar as a coffee server, therefore, dividing the current covers between this and the existing cafe.

 

 

 

Eastern Business Park

Imium were asked to completely overhaul Building 1 at Eastern Business Park and bring up to current Cat-A standard. The brief was to allow the client the flexibility of leasing floor by floor if required to attract multiple tenants if a single occupier could not be found.

Cooling and heating are now on split systems and all utilities and alarms are sub-metered floor by floor.

There was a full strip out taking the building back to a bare shell, the demolition work included strip out of the following,

  • Mechanical & Electrical service
  • Suspended ceiling and grid
  • Flooring
  • Partitioning perimeter heating system
  • External glazed blind system
  • Safe rooms
  • Facilities

Incopro is one of the world’s leading IP protection software developers, with over 600 clients worldwide including some of the worlds most well-renowned brands such as GHD, Lindt and Cath Kidson. After a large investment to help ensure the company could continue its exceptional growth Incopro decide to relocate from their existing office in Caerphilly to a new location in the centre of Cardiff.

The location chosen was a well-known building within the city, the former Burger & Lobster restaurant located on the second floor of one of the most recognisable buildings within The Hayes (also known as The Habitat building). The new working environment was designed by architect Downs Merrifield who focused on creating a space that was both functional and fit for purpose for Incopro while making the most of the buildings eye-catching and unique existing features. The ornate internal steel structure and intricate floor tiles were retained and new glass partitioning that echoes the style of the existing windows helped to ensure that the building’s character was not lost.

Optimum Credit is a leading provider of second charge mortgages for homeowners in England, Wales and Scotland.  Having successfully completed a Design and Build project for their current premises Imium were contacted by Optimum Credit with an opportunity to design a new space for them over two floors in the Capital Quarter, Cardiff.

The design lead project began with our team engaging with key stakeholders to receive a brief and gain a thorough understanding of how the business worked, made slightly more challenging as the company was going through a merger. This meant that any design proposals would need to take into consideration the change in staff numbers, ethos and branding that would be taking place over the coming months/years.

Welsh Power

Welsh Power is a leading developer and operator of gas-fired reserve and peak power plant relocated from their existing offices into new space delivered with Cat A works completed.

They were looking for an open transparent environment with a design that allows future expansion and growth of the company.

Optimising environmental performance is key to the company. Welsh Power work with world-leading technology providers to deliver efficient, low emissions and flexible energy solutions and to generate when others cannot.

Coffee Planet

The first of the chain to come to the UK, Coffee Planet approached us to design their first café in the United Kingdom.

The heart of Coffee Planet’s brand is the coffee beans and its importance on where it is roasted.  The overall design is rich with features that are reflective of its history and brand ethos. Through the use of key materials such as brass, feature bespoke tiles of a historic Arabic print and key details such as lighting with vintage bulbs that reflect the warmth of the brand. The interior design and brand are also reflective of this – welcoming and relaxed with a touch of raw – a space to offer a place for customers to enjoy food, coffee and to hang out, work and socialise.

 

The new space is reflective of the brand – rich and raw – these accentuate the look and reflect its rich history but also keeping a contemporary look.  They not only connect the design with their chain in UAE but also emulates the brand of coffee through its interior.

JM Finn – Bristol

Imium were asked to Design, Develop and Deliver an exciting new environment for wealth management experts JM Finn as they prepared to move from their existing offices into a new space in the historical Queens Square in the heart of Bristol. Having worked with JM Finn on a number of projects over the years Imium had a strong understanding of JM Finn’s brand and their needs for their new workspace.

The building selected is a beautiful period property overlooking the square and the brief was to create a smart and comfortable office space that reflected JM Finn’s values and worked with the existing building. The new office had to cater to the existing Bristol team whilst also be futureproofed for company expansion in the coming years. The office will frequently host high profile clients that expect a smart and comfortable space.

 

The Trade Centre UK

Imium have worked on Trade Centre showrooms all across the UK including Birmingham, Coventry and South Wales.

Taking existing warehouses of over 25,000 sq. ft. each and converting from an empty shell through to a completed car sales/showroom.

TRIA Recruitment

TRIA Recruitment is an exciting new recruitment agency that has really made an impact on the recruitment industry since forming in 2015, they have been nominated for a number of awards in the recruitment industry and have seen their staff numbers increase as their client base expands. Their focus is on their client’s needs, ensuring that they aren’t just filling a vacancy for the sake of it, but ensuring that their candidate and client are a match for each other to help create a happy and productive workforce for every organisation that they work with

TRIA Recruitment’s development and increased workforce meant that they had outgrown their existing space in the heart of Bristol and had targeted the prestigious Colston Tower as the perfect location for their new office. Located on the 14th Floor their new office offered enough space for the new and existing members of staff as well as some incredible panoramic views of Bristol including the harbourside and City centre.

Ty Gwent

Timescale: 7 Weeks

Imium were asked to completely refurbish the existing reception area and atrium of Ty Gwent after their long term tenant left the property. The client requested a vibrant and modern feel to the existing reception and communal space to help attract new tenants after the property had been vacant for some time.

The new design took down the old glass frame to create a far more open and welcoming space, with stylish acoustic panels fitted to the walls, to improve the acoustic comfort in the atrium. and new lighting installed to create a warmer space.

The refresh of the new space worked and a new tenant was found within a few weeks of the proejct being delivered.

Savills

Leading estate agent Savills relocated from their offices in 12 Windsor Place – an office split over four floors – to the top floor of 2 Kingsway, Cardiff.

Cardiff University – Julian Hodge Building

Food company Itsu is the inspiration behind the design of the canteen in Julian Hodge. The interiors are cheerful and welcoming with elements of Asian aesthetics such as light timber finishes and paper screens. With splashes of bright pinks and yellows, this concept is reflected in the designs of Julian Hodge’s canteen. Overall the walls and flooring remain minimalistic, yet blasts of vibrant colours appear in the furniture and fittings.

Lilo’s Pasta

We began working with Lilo’s at an exciting time of growth and expansion when they looked to open another café. Lilo’s approached us to rebrand and create a clear and focussed brand for their chain of cafés.
